Feeling STRESSED, SAD and BLUE?

Hectic work schedules, family commitments, poor eating habits, lack of exercise, the rising cost of fuel and food can all have a negative impact on your mental well being.

When your emotions are healthy & balanced, you feel like yourself. Everyday tasks seem easy and you feel like you are in Anxiety and Depressioncontrol. However, sometimes emotions can get out of balance, causing you to feel moody.

What most people don’t know is this imbalance can be associated with low levels of SAM-e (S-adenosylmethionine), a naturally occurring molecule produced by your body. SAM-e helps to maintain healthy emotions, but your SAM-e levels can run low due to various factors such as poor diet and aging.

What is SAMe

Also known as: S-adenosylmethionine - (pronounced 'sa-me' as in the name 'Sammy') has been hailed as the safest and most effective natural mood enhancer ever used. The full name is S-adenosyl-methionine and it is a molecule derived from the union of the amino acid methionine to a factor responsible for energy production, called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). SAMe increases the action of several neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine for example) by facilitating the binding of these hormones to their cell receptors. It also helps increase the production of endorphins. Endorphins are the bodies natural pain blocking chemicals and are more powerful than morphine.

  • SAMe helps manufacture and repair cartilage components. A study of osteoarthritis patients compared SAMe with NSAID drugs in its ability to reduce pain.

  • One double-blind study showed SAMe was superior to ibuprofen in the treatment of osteoarthritis.

  • Several studies involving SAMe and fibromyalgia patients yielded substantial improvement in over all pain levels (as well as depression).

SAM-e has been available by prescription in Europe for many years as an antidepressant but has only been available over the counter in the US since about 1996. Some doctors in Europe even prescribe SAM-e  for the therapy of many conditions, including depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia.

SAM-e is present in every living cell in the body, unfortunately, levels of SAM-e tend to decline with age.

Did your doctor tell you?

Antidepressants have actually been shown to increase the risk of suicide?
Prozac® alone has been associated with over 1,734 suicide deaths and over 28,000 adverse reactions.

Prescription antidepressants can cause anxiety, depression, addiction, suicidal tendencies, poor sleep, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, weight gain, confusion, involuntary muscle spasms, and senility.

Antidepressants can actually deplete serotonin. Studies now show that SSRIs eventually cause the brain to release less and less serotonin. Up to 70% of those taking antidepressant drugs would see the same benefits from a placebo.

Warning: Individuals using antidepressant medications should consult with their prescribing physician prior to using this product. Individuals diagnosed with bipolar disease or manic depression should avoid supplementing with SAMe. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. May cause gastrointestinal discomfort in a small percentage of people.

Dosage Recommendations: Take SAMe first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (30 minutes before breakfast). Although SAMe can elevate blood pressure and cause an increase in heart rate, the majority of Dr Murphree's patients rarely experience these potential problems. 200mg to 800mg. Don't take past 3 P.M.
This supplement can be taken along with your prescription anti-depressants.

Withdrawal Symptoms
Patients who stop their mood disorder drugs may experience an assortment of unwanted side effects. The possible withdrawal symptoms include severe depression, anxiety, agitation, dizziness, spinning sensations, swaying, difficulty walking, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, flu-like symptoms, lethargy, muscle pain, tingling or electric shock sensations, and sleep disturbances.

Patients may falsely feel that the increased feelings of depression and or anxiety are because they still need their mood disorder drug. However, you may not need the drug, but like an alcoholic who stops drinking, you may feel worse before you feel better.

There are reports of antidepressant related withdrawal symptoms lasting 2-3 months after discontinuing the medication.

Withdrawal symptoms of benzodiazepines (Xanax, Ativan, etc.) may last up to one year.
