Melatonin is the all-natural nightcap. Melatonin's role in maintaining normal sleep/wake cycles is well known. Supplemental melatonin is often needed to replace the body's declining production of this hormone that may occur with increasing age.
Melatonin-SR contains pure melatonin in a pharmaceutical sustained-release vegetarian capsule formulation that releases slowly over several hours to help maintain blood levels for a longer period of time.
Melatonin releases from the pineal gland, reaching its peak at night to help maintain tissues in a youthful state of health. Secretion of melatonin declines significantly with age, as the pineal gland becomes calcified.

Directions for Use: Start taking 5HTP 30 minutes before bed on an empty stomach with 4 oz. of grape juice. Start with 1 capsule. If you don't fall asleep in 30 minutes or if you wake up and can't go back to sleep at night increase your dose by 1 capsule each night to a maximum of 3 (300mg).
Note: If you become more alert STOP taking 5HTP at night, and instead take one capsule with lunch for 1 day. If no problems then the next day increase to 2 capsules daily with food. After a few days you can increase to 100mgs 3 times daily
