Q. Why is EZorb Calcium superior to inorganic calcium sources
?A. In contrast to the high-tech nature of EZorb Calcium, common inorganic minerals that are used in majority of vitamin and mineral supplements today are minerals that are easily found in nature or in the earth as rocks or limestone.
EZorb Calcium is formed of l-aspartic acid chelates of calcium. L-aspartic acid chelates of calcium (also referred to as anhydrous calcium aspartate) and common inorganic calcium supplements are not considered in the same league in the school of nutrition.
First of all, EZorb Calcium is substantially more bioavailable than common inorganic minerals. Q. Why doesn't EZorb Calcium contain Vitamin D or magnesium?

A. Conventional wisdom believes that Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease in which the body's defense system responds to a "false alarm" and attacks the joints. Different opinions center on which part of the joint is involved. Some believe that the synovium is attacked. Others argue that the collagen is assaulted. None of the argument really matters because the cause of the disease remains unknown to researchers.
It is not a secret that over the past four decades, RA research has often been driven by the pharmaceutical industry rather than researchers. Subject: Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis - since I was in 4th grade
When I was in fourth grade, I was diagnosed with JRA. I am now 22 years old. The area affected was mainly my wrists and hands. However, in the last couple of years, I have noticed that some of my other joints were beginning to hurt as well. Iam currently taking Enbrel. For a while, this was a "miracle" drug for me - it took away all pain and swelling.

Q. What causes osteoarthritis?
A. Nearly half of all Americans older than 60 develop osteoarthritis and most people older than 80 will develop it. The percentage of people with osteoarthritis in Canada is even higher. But joints don't just wear out with age. Researchers now recognize that several factors lead to the development of osteoarthritis rather than one single factor.
These are: biological Factors, age, joint damage by injury or by chronic obesity, and heredity.
Interestingly all of those factors eventually lead to osteoarthritis through weakening bone and joint metabolism.
Although it seems that only those "over the hill" get osteoarthritis, it has been detected in people before they reach 21. Osteoarthritis may be more common in older people, but age is definitely only one of the causes.
An injury such as a fracture or torn cartilage may result in osteoarthritis later in life. It may follow unusual or prolonged strain on a joint either in work or sport. People who constantly stress their joints are at particular risk of getting osteoarthritis, e.g., bus drivers, coal miners and foundry workers. But long distance runners who are trained in avoiding and recovering from injury are not more likely to develop osteoarthritis.
Being overweight for a long period is also considered to speed up the process. People who are obese may be more likely to develop osteoarthritis but the jury is still out on this exact link.
Too much weight leads to increased stress on weight bearing joints such as the knees, hips and lower spine and people who are overweight are also more likely to develop osteoarthritis in their fingers and hands.
Some forms of osteoarthritis do run in families, especially those that affect the small joints of fingers. But in general, heredity is not a major reason for osteoarthritis. In some people, osteoarthritis may be triggered by another disease, for example, Paget's disease.
Although the main cause of osteoarthritis is known to be weakened bone, joint and muscle metabolism, the precise mechanisms leading to osteoarthritis are still unknown and research is continuing. Research is underway regarding cells within cartilage that break down, leading to osteoarthritis.
Osteoarthritis is not caused by bacteria or poisons in the blood, acids in the body, diet deficiencies or excesses, gland abnormalities, the weather, exercise or sudden shock, although some of these may influence the pain.
Normally, joints have such a low friction level that they don't wear out unless they are used excessively or are injured. When bone and joint metabolism slows down, even at a low friction level the joint cartilage wears out easily.
Osteoarthritis probably begins most often with an abnormality of the cells that synthesize the components of cartilage, such as collagen (a tough, fibrous protein in connective tissue) and proteoglycans (substances that provide the cartilage's resilience).
Next, the cartilage may grow too much, but it eventually thins and develops cracks on the surface. Tiny cavities form in the marrow of the bone beneath the cartilage, weakening the bone.
Bone can overgrow at the edges of the joint, producing bone spurs (osteophytes), which can be seen and felt. These bone spurs may interfere with normal joint function, causing pain.
Ultimately, the smooth, slippery surface of the cartilage becomes rough and pitted, so that the joint can no longer move smoothly. All the components of joints fail in various ways.

A. Collagen is a type of protein. Protein is abundant in the human body, as it is with all living creatures. In humans different systems and parts of the body require different proteins that have a variety of functions. It is these "functional proteins" that are the essence of life.
It is easier to understand collagen if we have some knowledge of the role of proteins within the body and what a protein is made from. Proteins are used by the body for a whole host of things, e.g. within blood (for carrying molecules and for clotting), for digestion (enzymes are proteins), for movement (muscle), etc. etc. One other major role of proteins is that of "structural proteins", i.e. those proteins that contribute to and sustain the integrity of the human structure. Collagen is a structural protein and in this sense is both "functional" and "structural".
Hold this thought for a moment while we look at what makes a protein. Proteins are constructed from biological building blocks called amino acids. There are about 20 amino acids that occur in nature and different proteins are built from some or all of these. By using different numbers of amino acids and by altering the relative sequence of them it is possible to make unique proteins, with unique qualities.
Collagen is unique and also has two amino acids not found in other biological proteins; they are hydroxylated versions of known amino acids that confer special properties. Collagen is found in a number of tissues, in various sub forms, but is particularly abundant within and around joints. Tendon and cartilage owe much of their desirable properties to collagen. Collagen containing structures, such as the ones mentioned, are prone to wear and tear in the body.
Indeed, they are in a constant state of turnover, as with most tissues, but have the disadvantage of having a poor blood supply (this does not favor ease of repair). Due to the demands upon the collagen containing structures (movement and weight bearing) and their slower ability to repair it is vital that we optimize the conditions for helping to maintain joint mobility.
Bones with sufficient collagen composition are steels that are both strong and elastic. Bones with low level of collagen composition are brittle wood that are easily broken.
